Would you love to do the Wicklow Round but feel it’s beyond your reach? Would you like to recce the route, but at a leisurely no-stress pace?
Happy Out Adventures is super excited to announce an exclusive Wicklow Round recce weekend in 2021. We’re breaking the route in two, navigating on your behalf and traveling it at your pace, with an overnight home-stay in the picturesque Glenmalure Valley.
Note this is not an official Wicklow Round attempt, but a chance to head out on the route for two days with experienced mountain-running guides to see what it ultimately takes.
Meeting Location: Central parking to be confirmed, for transfer to Wicklow Round start
TIme: Meeting 6am on Saturday for tranfer to Kippure or Sally Gap; Finish 6pm on Sunday.
Think it’s beyond your reach?
Well, if you want to cover the whole route during the weekend, we’ll help you do that, stopping overnight in Glenmalure for food and sleep. If you want to just recce parts of the route over the two days e.g. Sally Gap to Table Mountain on Day One and Glenmalure to Tonduff North on Day Two, we can also facilitate. Or if there’s a group of you that wants to stick together for the two-day run and do two specific sections, we’re more than happy with that.
What’s more, you’ll be divided into small groups and accompanied by Wicklow Round finishers, Moire O’Sullivan, Paul Mahon and Paul Nolan. They’ll be there with you throughout the day to chat about the route, nutrition, pacing and no doubt tell you about how their own Rounds went. A perfect chance to see if an official Wicklow Round attempt is right for you.
Price includes guiding, transport to and from Wicklow Round start (Kippure), overnight home-stay in shared rooms (accommodation upgrades available on request), pasta dinner and oat-based breakfast. The fee does not cover maps, compasses, trail food or drinks, or any mountain-running gear hire.
