The Hill and Dale Series is a series of trail and mountain races held mid-week in April, May and June. Organised by the Newcastle Athletic Club, it is a brilliant way to explore the Mournes and its nearby forests with a group of fellow mountain runners.
Many of the race routes are not marked, some are on open mountain, so recces are an important part of preparing for these events. Throughout spring 2020, Happy Out Adventures are holding recce runs for those looking to get to know the route.
As an added bonus, you can bring your own map and compass to self-navigate, with your guide pointing out key features along the way to make sure you’re always going in the right direction.
- Slieve Martin
Meeting Location: Forestry Office at the entrance of Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor.
Time: 10am – 12pm (approx).
